Upon your first arrival, there will be some paperwork to complete prior to your assessment or treatment. In order to facilitate this process, it is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your appointment. Your session will usually last from 30-45 minutes.
The assessment portion will take place in a private setting. We will go over your medical history, lifestyle, work-related habits, and list of medications in order to obtain a full picture of this issues you are dealing with and any factors that could have contributed to them.
The physical examination will begin with checking your vital signs, assessing your posture and movement, and completing tests that relate specifically to your area(s) of issue. Upon completion of these assessments, we will discuss the results with you and establish a working diagnosis. Please note that further diagnostic testing, such as x-rays, may be required in order to adequately determine the best treatment strategy.
If no further testing is required, treatment will be given on the same day as your visit. Your diagnosis or injury will dictate the type of treatment that you will receive, often a combination of the following:
Other treatments, such as nutritional supplements, custom orthotic shoes, back support and exercise programs, may also be recommended.
After your treatment, you could exhibit signs of soreness, which regularly happens with these types of treatments. Placing heat or ice on the affected area will help.
It is important to remember that physiotherapy is not a quick fix – rather, it takes time and requires your commitment to follow the recommendations that have been give to you and to remain active throughout your treatment. It will take more than a couple of sessions to cure most conditions.
You can schedule each appointment at a time that is convenient for you. Please be on time to receive the maximum amount of time you can with your doctor. Remember to dress comfortably, or bring a change of clothes to our office.
Each session will begin with another quick assessment of your condition to ensure you are on the right track to recovery, or to check if your symptoms are getting worse. This will help us track if your treatment is working in the proper way.
